Our History
From humble beginnings, Lyle and Ellen Lamers founded Lamers Bus Lines, Inc. in September, 1944, as a family owned and operated Transportation Company headquartered near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Using a 1936 red, white and blue Carry-All bus, the Grant School District became the first school district in which Lamers operated until 1948, when West De Pere High was added. Shortly thereafter, the two districts combined to become the West De Pere School District. In 1950, Lamers was asked to provide transportation for the Ashwaubenon School District, and a few years later in 1959, we were contracted by the Green Bay Area School District to provide service as well.
In November, 1980, Lamers Bus Lines, Inc. was also granted permission from the Interstate Commerce Commission the ability to transport charters anywhere in the Continental United States. Along with this, Lamers has the legal authority and permits to organize group tours and sell on a per person basis.
In recent years, Lyle's sons, Allen and Kevin, along with their children have taken over the day to day responsibilities of running the company in order to allow Lyle, who is still active in the company, time to enjoy his hobbies and participate in community service programs. Since 1944, the Lamers family, working together with their staff of dedicated employees, has made Lamers the largest locally owned transportation company in Wisconsin and also the 23rd largest in the United States of America.
